Waste production not only costs your business money by also has a significant environmental impact on the environment. Financials costs relate to the disposal of waste including poor resource efficiency and the throwing away of materials which you have paid for, and the actual cost of waste disposal which has and will continue to increase over coming years. Opportunities maybe being missed for the sale of recyclable materials which you are currently paying to have taken away!
To help reduce company costs and improve environmental performance companies should increase their understanding of the waste they are generating identifying what business processes are generating the waste, what are the different waste streams, how much does the waste disposal cost, is the waste being disposed of legally i.e. compliance with the duty of care.
We can provide support by helping to produce a Waste Audit which will identify opportunities to reduce waste production, reduce costs and your impact on the environment. A baseline waste survey will be undertaken assessing the different waste streams identifying the potential for waste elimination, minimization, reuse and recycling.
The audit will include:
Waste mapping
Bench marking against current best practice in that business sector
Potential for resource efficiency savings
Waste management savings
Legal compliance checks i.e. Duty of Care, waste transfer notes, hazardous waste producer registration
Potential areas for further investigations
The recommendation of possible targets
Possible waste contractors
