ISO 14001:2004

ISO 14001 is an internationally recognised Environmental Management Standard (EMS) that enables an organisation of any size or type to put in place a management system to manage and reduce its environmental impacts. The Standard states the requirements for an EMS and the systematic approach needed to ensure compliance.  

What are the benefits of ISO 14001 certification?

Within the organisation:

• To demonstrate the organisations commitment at all levels to continual environmental improvement and minimising its environmental impacts, such as carbon emissions.
• Improved environmental efficiency and related financial savings, through improved resource efficiency, waste management and energy efficiency. 
• It can provide assurance to management that they are controlling the environmental risks/impacts associated with processes operated by the company.
• It can provide assurance to employees that they are working for an environmentally responsible organization.

To outside organisations:

• It can provide assurance to external organizations that their supplier/contractor is managing its environmental impacts
• Assurance that an organisation is environmentally legally compliant
• Provide third party verification regarding claims made by an organisation relating to environmental performance and achievements.
• Allows claims of conformity to particular frameworks to be check and verified by an independent third party.
