Energy Management

Saving Energy and Money!

Significant increases in the price of energy and the threat of climate change have made energy management a hot topic for businesses. Assessments have found that savings of up to 20% in energy bills can be made by businesses implementing small changes in working practices with no or little financial outlay.

With all the indications that energy costs are going to increase further over future year’s implementation of an energy management plan could bring real financial benefits while helping to reduce your carbon footprint.

How can the Wales Green Business Centre help?

We can provide a support service to businesses wishing to reduce their energy consumption but are unsure of the best way to go about it. Third party audits energy management and building assessments can be undertaken.

Energy Management System ISO 16001

To help guide businesses on how they can monitor and manage their energy usage across their facilities the standards and certification body BSI have introduced the BS EN 16001 standard. Businesses can be independently certified to show that they comply with the standard and have a robust energy management system in place. The standard requires energy saving targets to be put in place including energy efficiency improvements, monitoring procedures, designated staff to manage energy usage, an internal energy audit progamme to specified targets are being met and reviews to ensure that all elements of the management system are working.

Energy Assessments (Energy Performance Certificates or EPCs)

Energy Performance Certificates or EPC’s are helping to change our attitudes and understanding of how we use energy in buildings, and in particular how we can make them more energy efficient. They are acting as drivers to reduce company costs and reduce carbon emissions from our buildings.
